What is the theology major like at Notre Dame?

“It's really a way to approach everything in life — yourself, your community, the world — through the lens of the Christian faith,” said theology major Sofia Carozza.

In theology, you’ll take classes like:

  • Christian Theological Tradition
  • Christianity and World Religions
  • Theology, Ethics, and Business
  • The Person of Christ
  • Latino Theology
  • Idols and Icons
  • Salvation and Liberation
  • Liturgical History

Theology majors pursue their passions while developing skills such as abstract thinking, problem solving, empathy, and ethical judgment.

After graduation, students go on to top graduate and professional schools and work in a variety of professions and industries. First jobs include:

  • Program manager, Microsoft
  • Marketing associate, Dynamic Catholic
  • Theology teacher, St. Benedict College Prep
  • Front developer, Acquity Group
  • Technology business analyst, Deloitte

“You can do a lot with theology,” said theology major Thomas Doran. “It teaches you how to be a mechanic of abstract concepts, how to work through problems in a very systematic way, how to look at people empathetically, and how to look at this world as bigger than yourself.”
