Video: Arts and Letters Student Interns at Veloz Group in Los Angeles

“The best part of this internship is that it’s so hands-on. We write, produce, edit, direct, cast, for everything,” says senior Sara McGuirk, an English and film, television, and theatre major in the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame.

During the summer of 2013, McGuirk worked at The Veloz Group, a business development company based in Los Angeles. She produced a variety of web video content for the firm’s websites, including instructional and promotional material. “After this internship, I definitely have a better sense of how to work in a team, work on set, and really create a quality video,” says McGuirk. “Trying to figure out who you are in a team, any kind of team, is so important.”

McGuirk’s internship was funded through the Arts and Letters Summer Internship Program, which awards grants to sophomores and juniors who accept internships in the U.S. and abroad. “It really changed everything when I got it,” McGuirk says of receiving the grant. “There’s no way I would be in L.A. right now without it.”
