Designers top houseware competition

Notre Dame seniors have earned two of the top awards at an international student design competition.

Judges at the International Housewares Association’s 2009 competition recognized industrial design majors Kat Cummins and Kaitlyn Benoit. Cummins claimed a second-place award for “Spice,” a system to mix and measure cooking ingredients. Benoit received a third-place award for “Slice and Scoop,” a kitchen cutting aid for the visually impaired.

Notre Dame students submitted 11 entries at the competition. The University was among 28 schools competing.
