German Studies

Course Highlights

German and the Environment

German History Through Film

Literature and War

German Studies is perfect for students who want to develop an understanding of the German-speaking world without necessarily having to study the language. Through history, politics, language, literature, art, and culture, discussion-based classes and interdisciplinary approaches give students the cultural competence that is necessary to succeed in a study abroad program, internship, or job in the region.

A supplemental major or minor can be completed in any combination of German- and English-language classes, and an all-English curriculum is possible. Either program is very easy to combine with other disciplines, such as political science, history, English, economics, business, science, journalism, mathematics, or music.
