Grace Song

Grace Song received her Ph.D. and M.A. in History from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. in Historical Studies from The New School for Social Research, and a BA in History from Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts. Her dissertation, “Representing U.S.-Korea Relations, 1871- 1923,” examined how cultural representations in the American media affected the U.S. empire and foreign relations. Her research focuses on culture, race, empire/imperialism, nationalism, and art/art history.

Prior to joining the College of Arts and Letters, Grace served as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Flatley Center for Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement (CUSE). She advised undergraduate students on the Beinecke Scholarship, the Gilman Scholarship, the Goldwater Scholarship, and Phi Beta Kappa’s Key Into Public Service Award. She has also worked with students on internal grants and awards.

Grace’s advising philosophy focuses on a holistic approach and advising as pedagogy.
