Jazz pianist and educator Reggie Thomas will kick off the Arts of Dignity series with a performance/lecture focused on the place of the blues in the hierarchy of musical study and value. His performance and lecture will also explore the majesty, lyricism, and ultimately, the dignity of the blues. Thomas is professor and head of jazz studies in the Music Department at Northern Illinois University.
Artist meet and greet to follow in the main concourse of the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. Event is free but ticketed.
