The Department of Music presents music by Virtuosi of the Eighteenth Century. Johann Adolphe Hasse's cantata Quel vago seno, ò Fille for Faustina Bordoni, the most famous soprano of the eighteenth century. A sonata for flute by Johann Joachim Quantz, the foremost flute performer of the day. A duet for two flutes by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Johann Sebastian's oldest son. Solo pieces for viola da gamba by the last of the great gamba virtuosi, Johann Friedrich Abel. A trio sonata by C.P.E. Bach, Johann Sebastian's most prolific son.
