Lecture: The Virgin Mary on Screen - Mother and Disciple

-

Location: Carey Auditorium, Hesburgh Library

Lecture by Catherine O’Brien, Ph.D., Kingston University, London, author of The Celluloid Madonna: From Scripture to Screen.

This lecture is part of the academic course “Know Your Catholic Faith: Mary in the Movies.” For more than a century, the Blessed Virgin Mary has caught the imagination of filmmakers of religious, agnostic, and even atheist affiliations. The course will examine a variety of films about the Blessed Virgin Mary in view of their scriptural, doctrinal, and spiritual presentation of Mary of Nazareth.

Co-sponsored by the Department of Film, Television and Theatre and the Institute for Church Life, this event is free and open to the public.
