This lecture is presented by Margaret Mullett, director of Byzantine studies at Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection.
It is a continuation of “Writing Empire: Rome and Byzantium,” a yearlong interdisciplinary colloquium in honor of our late colleague and friend Sabine MacCormack, Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Professor of Arts and Letters, exploring the rich literary, political, and religious cultures of the Roman and Byzantine empires.
A reception will follow in the East Lounge.
Sponsored by the Department of Classics, the Department of History, the Program of Liberal Studies, the Henkels Lecture Fund, the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts, the Medieval Institute, and the Notre Dame Workshop on Ancient Philosophy.
