ScreenPeace Film Festival 2013: "The Loving Story"

-

Location: Browning Cinema, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

This year’s ScreenPeace Film Festival presents five critically acclaimed films that revolve around the theme of nonviolent resistance.

All films are free, but ticketed.

The Loving Story (2011)

The landmark 1967 civil rights case Loving vs. Virginia ended all race-based restrictions on marriage in the United States. This film by Nancy Buirski tells the poignant story of Richard and Mildred Loving, who were not civil rights activists, but simply wanted to go home to a quiet life in Virginia.

An introduction to the film and post-screening discussion will be led by Richard Pierce, associate professor of history and Africana studies.

Tickets are available at performing arts.nd.edu or by calling the box office at 574.631.2800.
