Special Pre-release Screening and Q&A: "Macbeth"

-

Location: Browning Cinema, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center (View on map )

Join Shakespeare at Notre Dame at the free pre-release screening of director Kit Monkman's film Macbeth, an astonishing new adaptation of one of Shakespeare's greatest dramas. Shot entirely against green screens, this bravura interpretation uses background mattes and computer modeling to fully immerse you in a rich, painterly world driven entirely by the psychology of the characters.

Following the screening will be an exclusive Q&A with Judith Buchanan, the film's co-writer and Shakespeare advisor. Ms. Buchanan is Professor of Film and Literature and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of York (UK). She writes widely on Shakespeare performance histories on stage and screen and speaks regularly to public as well as academic audiences around the world.

This is the very first North American screening of Macbeth; the film will open in theatres around the world in spring 2018. Don't miss your chance to be the first to experience this striking new vision of one of the most popular -- and relevant -- tragedies ever written.

Parental content warning: This film features brief nudity, sexual situations, and some violent images. Parental discretion advised.
