Notre Dame Chorale: Lux Aeterna

-

Location: Leighton Concert Hall, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

In its fall concert, the Notre Dame Chorale, accompanied by extraordinary pianist Päivi Ekroth, presents music of many styles, from Renaissance polyphony to Beethoven songs, to Barbershop close harmony and the world premiere of an avant-garde work composed in 2015.

Three settings of the Requiem words "Lux Aeterna" serve as landmarks: the final movement of the Requiem Mass by sixteenth-century composer Jean Richafort; Sir Edward Elgar's popular Nimrod movement from the Enigma Variations sung to the same Requiem Mass words; and Stefan Giraudet's setting of the Lux Aeterna text for an a cappella choir that, at times, expands to as many as twelve individual voices.

This event is family friendly. Children age 7+ are welcome. Students are free.
