The Most Rev. Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R, Archbishop of Indianapolis, will examine the imperative to assist refugees according to the moral tradition of the Roman Catholic Church. Consideration will be given to the fear that has been generated around the question and how the Catholic community may address that anxiety, and the circumstances surrounding a public controversy in December 2015 with the governor of Indiana regarding the resettlement of Syrian refugees by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Archbishop Tobin will be joined by Ebrahim Moosa, Professor of Islamic Studies at the Keough School of Global Affairs, for an enlightening question and answer session following the presentation.
A light lunch buffet will be served in the Hesburgh Center's Great Hall following the event.
