Location: Geddes Hall, B034

Zachary Throckmorton, Assistant Professor at Lincoln Memorial University, presents “Meet Homo Naledi, The Newest Member of Our Family.”

From discovery, to excavation, to research and analysis, to open access publication, Homo naledi took only two years to bring to light. The rapid work on this newly discovered, extinct human relative was facilitated by
crowdsourcing, assembly of a large team of primarily junior scientists, and a willingness to do paleoanthropology differently than usual. With an intriguing and bizarre fossil deposit characters, Homo naledi yields spectacular insight into what it means to be human.
