Wham, Bam, Poetry Slam!

-

Location: Snite Museum of Art

Whether as a poet, a spectator, or a judge, get ready to slam!

Coinciding with the 2013 Thesis Exhibition by BFA and MFA Candidates and in recognition of National Poetry Month, this event celebrates student creativity in all its glorious variety.

Aspiring slam poets are invited to perform a three-minute (or less) poem orally on stage that is judged by selected members of the audience. The poems must be original work on any subject and can be in any style. The use of props is strictly prohibited; only the performer’s body may be used to perform the poem.

At the end of the evening, the emcee will announce a winner, and prizes (1st prize: $100; 2nd prize: $50; 3rd prize: signed copy of Marty McConnell’s wine for a shotgun) will be awarded.

Reception begins at 5:00 p.m.; program begins at 6:00 p.m.
