Architecture Lecture: Jeffrey Tilman

-

Location: Bond Hall

Jeffrey Tilman, assistant professor, School of Architecture and Interior Design, University of Cincinnati

Tilman is an assistant professor of architectural history, design, and historic preservation. His research and writings focus on the history of American architecture between the Civil War and World War II. He recently published the the book Arthur Brown, Jr.: Progressive Classicist, a monograph on the classically oriented architect of San Francisco City Hall and part of the Federal Triangle in Washington. Tilman’s interest in Arthur Brown and historic preservation is a result of his conviction that preservation is a part of architectural practice, and that no architecture is successful unless it addresses its pre-existing social, political, physical, and historical context.
