Addressing Poverty in Your Career

-

Location: Geddes Hall, Andrews Auditorium

The University of Notre Dame Career Center, student group INSPIRE, and the Poverty Studies Interdiscplinary Minor will be hosting speakers from the South Bend community who are addressing poverty in their respective careers and who will help students understand how they too can incorporate combating poverty into their careers in the future. The three-fold focus for this program includes:

1) Providing a focus on poverty, defining it, understanding the complexity of causes of poverty, and measuring it;
2) Helping students discover organizations that are working on aspects and/or causes of poverty; and
3) Highlighting jobs or internships that panelists’ organizations possess, as well as providing information regarding how students can prepare themselves with the skills and experiences they need to work on the issues or in the career fields represented by the panel.
