Gill’s research addresses a variety of topics in K–12 education policy, including charter schools, private management of public schools, No Child Left Behind, the measurement of teacher performance, districtwide instructional reform, and homework. He is currently directing the National Study of the Effectiveness of Charter-School Management Organizations, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the New Schools Venture Fund. This is the first study to rigorously examine the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations that manage networks of charter schools.
