Cap, Gown, and Honor Cords

Degree candidates and recipients who are planning to attend the College of Arts and Letters Diploma Ceremony are required to wear a cap and gown. Students may purchase their gowns at the Hammes Bookstore.

For students who have earned Latin Honors, the College of Arts and Letters will offer Latin Honors Cords in recognition of their achievement. Please plan to pick up your cord from the Office for Undergraduate Studies, 104 O’Shaughnessy Hall, during senior week, May 13-17, from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you have any questions, call the Office of the Registrar at 574.631.7043 or read more about Graduation Honors.

In Absentia Diplomas

Beginning in June, in absentia diplomas will be mailed to the home address on file with the Registrar’s Office.

Contact the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible if you need to update your address.

Students are not required to attend either the University Commencement Ceremony or the Diploma Ceremony to receive their diplomas.

Grab and Go Snacks

Grab-and-go snacks will be available after the University Commencement at Gate 10 of the Purcell Pavilion.

Sunday Lunch

There will be opportunities for you to have lunch between the University Commencement in the morning and the College of Arts and Letters Diploma Ceremony in the afternoon.

Information regarding on-campus Commencement Weekend meals and accommodations is available through the Commencement Accommodations Office.

Photography and DVDs

GradImages will be the official photographer for the College of Arts and Letters Diploma Ceremony.

The photographer will take pictures of Dean Mustillo congratulating each student with his or her diploma in hand.

The photographer will send proofs of the pictures to the email each student provides when they register for the diploma ceremony.

You may pre-register with GradImages. Providing GradImages with correct and up-to-date contact information ensures the delivery of your graduation proofs in a timely manner. You may register your email and the email addresses of up to six loved ones who would like to share in your accomplishment by viewing or ordering photos. Students who preregister with GradImages will have an opportunity to receive 20% off a future order.
