Kylemore Book Club

- (part of a series)

Location: virtual via Zoom

A new series of the Kylemore Book Club is led by Professor Declan Kiberd, Donald and Marilyn Keough Professor of Irish Studies, who invites readers to consider how the body is represented in the work of Irish authors W.B. Yeats, James Joyce, Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill and Eavan Boland. Introducing readers to these figures of Irish literature, the following themes will be discussed: the relationship between mind and body; the body in pain; the body in Irish history; and the body set free.

Guest speakers will join Declan during some of these sessions.

This four-week program will give you the opportunity to view prerecorded 5-minute explainer videos, participate in weekly online meetings on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM EDT on August 5 (Kylemore Book Club, 8.5.20), August 12, August 19, and August 26, and share your thoughts in an online discussion forum.
