Nicole Phelps, associate professor of history at the University of Vermont, will deliver the keynote address "The US-Austria Peace Treaty in Context" for the online symposium "The US-Austria Peace Treaty at 100: Historical, Political, and Moral Perspectives" hosted by the Nanovic Institute for European Studies. Her current research project is on the US Consular Service, one of the long nineteenth century’s precursors to the US Foreign Service. She is the author of U.S.-Habsburg Relations from 1815 to the Paris Peace Conference, which was published by Cambridge University Press in 2013 (paperback 2015).
