Umut Acar, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Chicago, will give a lecture entitled, “Perspectives on Contemporary Turkey,” and lead a discussion with those in attendance.nUmut Acar earned his undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey. He started his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998 and has previously served as the head of the Department for Administrative and Financial Affairs (2013-14) and Chief of Cabinet of the Minister (2014-15). In October 2015 he began working in his current position as Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Chicago.
