Elza
Directed by Mariette Monpierre
French with English subtitles

The magnetic Stana Roumillac stars as Elza, a talented university graduate who decides to leave Paris to return to her birthplace in Guadeloupe and seek out her long lost father. When she finally reunites with him, she is troubled by his unabashed bigotry toward people of color. This luxuriant, inspiring tale of one woman’s quest to understand her past uncovers the racial prejudices that still exist among formerly colonized peoples.

This film is part of the Tournées Film Festival in celebration of International Education Week.
