Panel Discussion: War, Trauma, and Healing

-

Location: Hesburgh Center, Room C103

This panel discussion builds on the theme of this year’s ScreenPeace Film Festival, which explores issues of trauma and healing in the wake of war. Taking their cue from Olivier Morel’s film _On the Bridge_, panelists will focus on how trauma-related conditions, such as PTSD, affect the lives of returning military veterans. Panelists will draw on a broad range of personal and professional experiences to discuss the long-term impact of war trauma and effective approaches for addressing it. Panelists include: * William Spanos, professor of English at Binghamton University (SUNY); WWII veteran * Lisa Zepeda, Chicago police officer; Iraq War veteran featured in the film _On the Bridge_ * David Cortright, former active duty soldier in Vietnam; director of policy studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies * Susan St. Ville, faculty expert in trauma and healing; director of the master's program at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies
