Janet Kaplan, 2010 Sandeen Prize Winner

Janet Kaplan, winner of the Ernest Sandeen Prize from the University of Notre Dame Press for Dreamlife of a Philanthropist, is also the author of The Groundnote, winner of the New York/New England competition from Alice James Books, and The Glazier’s Country, winner of the Poets Out Loud Prize from Fordham University Press. Her poems, prose poems, and prose sonnets have appeared in American Letters & Commentary, Barrow Street, Crazyhorse, CUE, Denver Quarterly, Hotel Amerika, Ms., Open City, www.prose-poems.com, Sentence, The Paris Review, and many other journals. She is the recipient of a Fellowship in Poetry from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Godot Grant in poetry from Rattapallax Press, and a grant from the Vogelstein Foundation. A fourth poetry collection, “Ephemeris Time,” is in progress, as is a novel, tentatively titled “The Desire of the Line.” She has served as Poet in Residence at Fordham University and is a member of the creative writing faculty at Hofstra University.
