Video: Meet Design Major Brandon Keelean

Author: Arts and Letters

“I liked the opportunity design gave me to be creative and to be a problem-solver and to think about problems logically,” says Brandon Keelean ’13, a design major in Notre Dame’s Department of Art, Art History, and Design.

“Every day is a new challenge. You’re constantly being asked to look at problems from different spheres and different areas of society.”

The Zeeland, Mich., native says Notre Dame’s focus on design for social good was also appealing.

“You can do more with design than just make something look nice—you can solve one of the major issues that’s facing our world today,” says Keelean, who was part of an undergraduate design project aimed at addressing xenophobia in South Africa.

“My Notre Dame education, if it’s taught me anything, has provided me with the knowledge that you can make a living doing good for the world.”
