More than 220 students in diverse majors from across the University of Notre Dame’s colleges will showcase their research, scholarship and creative endeavors Friday (May 1) at the second annual Undergraduate Scholars conference.
Special tracks this year will highlight interdisciplinary research in labor, nanoscience and technology, energy and sustainability, foreign languages and cultures and research advanced by high-performance computing. A special session by the Notre Dame Policy Debate Team also is scheduled.
Students will present at DeBartolo Hall, Jordan Hall of Science and the O’Shaughnessy Galleries in the Snite Museum.
The conference will begin with a keynote talk by award-winning author and Notre Dame alumnus Michael Collins at noon in the Jordan Auditorium of the Mendoza College of Business. Collins is the author of eight novels and two collections of short stories that have garnered numerous prestigious literary awards and have been translated into more than 20 languages.
Oral presentations and BFA Gallery talks are from 1 to 2:30p.m. and poster presentations are from 2:30 to 3:30p.m. A second session of oral presentations will take place from 3:30-5:00p.m.
