Faculty Film to Screen at Exhibition in Cannes

Gotta Get Out, a short film shot, directed, and produced by Associate Professional Specialist William Donaruma, will be screened at Short Film Corner, a special exhibition of short films at the 2009 Festival de Cannes.

An ode to Gene Kelly musicals, the film stars Erin O’Shea (’08) as a young girl, stuck in the drudgery of her office job and life, fantasizing about achieving her dreams on a Broadway stage.

Gotta Get Out_received a Merit Award from the Accolade Film Awards as well as a Special Jury Award from Filmaka earlier in the year. The film can be viewed online at www.nd.edu/~wdonarum/MySite/More_Movies2.html.

Donaruma teaches production courses for the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre. He has won Notre Dame’s Kaneb Teaching Award and was recently granted a fellowship at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
