Legal scholars and theologians to discuss Bible and Constitution

University of Notre Dame law and theology faculty members will take part in a panel discussion on “Interpreting the Bible and the Constitution: Similarities and Differences” at 4p.m. Thursday (Feb. 2) in Room 121 of the Notre Dame Law School.

Discussion moderator Cathleen Kaveny, John P. Murphy Foundation Professor of Law and Professor of Theology, said that the event should be of broad interest in light of issues arising from the recent Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court candidate Judge Samuel Alito.

Panelists for the discussion include G. Robert Blakey, William and Dorothy O’Neill Professor of Law; Rev. Brian E. Daley, S.J., Catherine Huisking Professor of Theology; Cyril J. O’Regan, also a Catherine F. Huisking Professor of Theology, and Jay Tidmarsh, professor of law.
