In Sollicitudo Rei Socialis, Pope John Paul II wrote that solidarity is not “a feeling of vague compassion or shallow distress at the misfortunes of others. It is a firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good.” What does this firm and persevering determination look like enfleshed? This research seminar will explore this question in presenting a praxis of solidarity, identifying obstacles in its application, and offering a model that accounts for how each of us, in our varying positions of power and privilege, might deepen our commitment to one another
