Higgins Labor Film Club: "On the Basis of Sex" (2018)
Miss going to the movies? So do we, but we’ve come up with the next best thing. The Higgins Labor Program has selected four great films showcasing the work and activism of four female protagonists fighting for social justice from different eras of American history.
How does it work?
Step 1: Watch the film on your own time. Notre Dame faculty, staff, and students can access the film through the Hesburgh Library.
Step 2: RSVP for the Higgins Labor Film Club Zoom discussion. You’ll then receive a calendar invite with the Zoom info.
Step 3: Join us on a Sunday afternoon for casual conversation about the movie with Notre Dame faculty expert Christina Wolbrecht, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Rooney Center for the Study of American Democracy and the Notre Dame Washington Program
About the film On the Basis of Sex
This 2018 film directed by Mimi Leder and starring Felicity Jones tells the story of a young Ruth Bader Ginsberg as she navigates life as a struggling attorney and new mother. When Ruth takes on a groundbreaking tax case with her husband, attorney Martin Ginsburg, she knows it could change the direction of her career and the way the courts view gender discrimination.
