The results of the 2020 census will have a profound impact on the social, political, economic and educational landscape for Latinx communities across the U.S over the next decade. Significant efforts by Latinx communities across the country to achieve a full and accurate count have faced incredible challenges and barriers. This talk will explore why the census is so vital, what barriers Latinx communities have had to overcome and what can be done during the last week to encourage an accurate count prior to the September 30th deadline.

Join Michael N. Okinczyc-Cruz, Executive Director and co-founder of the Coalition for Spiritual & Public Leadership (CSPL), and Kassandra Perez, ND senior in Mathematics and a supplementary major in Latino Studies, for this engaging discussion.

This event is part of a suite of scholarly activities offered by the Institute for Latino Studies throughout Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15, 2020) at the University of Notre Dame.

All events are free and open to the public. Registration is required to obtain a Zoom link invitation.
