Each year, the United Nations International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21.

This year’s theme is “Shaping Peace Together.” The UN description of the theme says, “Celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. Stand together with the UN against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred. Join us so that we can shape peace together.”

The Kroc Institute invites you to join us for a virtual panel discussion on efforts to address some of the biggest threats to peace that we are facing around the world today, including discussions of pandemic, climate change, healthcare, movements for racial justice, and more.

Panelists include:

  • Catherine Bolten, associate professor of anthropology and peace studies
  • Drew Marcantonio, doctoral student in peace studies and anthropology
  • Ann Mische, associate professor of sociology and peace studies
  • Amaryst Parks, doctoral student in peace studies and sociology
  • Andrew Owsiak, Kroc Institute visiting research fellow

The panel will be moderated by Asher Kaufman, the John M. Regan, Jr. Director of the Kroc Insititute and professor of history and peace studies.
