Faculty Reading Group: "The Hidden Life of Trees"

-

Location: Jordan Reading Room (View on map )

The fall semester meeting of Notre Dame’s Sustainability Faculty Reading Group will feature a discussion of Peter Wohlleben’s international bestseller The Hidden Life of Trees.

Wohlleben convincingly makes the case that the forest is a social network. He draws on groundbreaking scientific discoveries to describe how trees communicate, share nutrients with those who are sick or struggling, and even warn each other of impending dangers. Wohlleben also shares his deep love of woods and forests, explaining the amazing processes of life, death, and regeneration he has observed in his decades in the woods.

Faculty are invited to RSVP here until September 8th. Lunch and discussion will be followed by a campus walk to visit some of the tree species highlighted in the book.

If you are an ND faculty member or graduate student who would like to be added to the Reading Group mailing list, please email sus@nd.edu.
