Welcome Weekend

Orientation weekend is held each fall to introduce parents and students to campus life and to help them become more familiar with the University of Notre Dame. Among the planned activities across campus are:

  • official welcome
  • academic exploration sessions
  • orientation with dorm rectors
  • student services open houses
  • receptions
  • Sunday Mass
  • introduction to campus athletics programs

The College of Arts and Letters will be hosting an academic exploration session from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, in McKenna Hall, the Notre Dame Conference Center. A complete schedule and program information is available here.

At 1:30 p.m., Dean John McGreevy and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies Essaka Joshua will welcome students and their parents and offer a brief introduction to the College. At 2 p.m., parents will attend a panel discussion with Dean McGreevy, a representative from The Career Center, and two current students. First-year students will attend a panel discussion with three current students.

At any point from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., students and parents are welcome to visit tables featuring representatives from every academic department, center, and institute in the College to learn more about majors, minors, special programs, study abroad, research opportunities, and more!
