George O. Liber is Professor of History at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A scholar of Soviet, post-Soviet, and East European social history, he has also served as an international election observer for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and has worked in Ukraine. His lecture will be introduced by A. James McAdams, director of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies.
