The Department of History welcomes Brett Rushforth.   Rushforth is Assistant Professor of history at the University of Oregon and Book Review Editor of the William and Mary Quarterly. He is the co-editor, with Paul Mapp, of Colonial North America and the Atlantic World: A History in Documents, and the author of Bonds of Alliance: Indigenous and Atlantic Slaveries in New France, which was awarded the Merle Curti prize in social history by the Organization of American historians. He is currently writing, with Christopher Hodson, a history of the French Atlantic world titled Discovering Empire: France and the Atlantic World from the Age of Discovery to the Age of Revolutions.
