Lecture: Fair Use in the Academic Environment - A Scholar’s Primer

-

Location: Geddes Auditorium

Fair Use Week is February 22 to February 26. The Hesburgh Libraries will celebrate by hosting Tim Flanagan, Associate General Counsel, as he speaks on “Fair Use in the Academic Environment: A Scholar’s Primer”. He will explain why Fair Use is a fundamental building block of scholarship and a powerful and critical right.

Chances are our faculty, our graduate students, and our advanced undergraduate scholars have quoted a book, scanned an article, requested something through interlibrary loan or document delivery, or used an image in a conference presentation. These are just a few examples of Fair Use as part of copyright law that we use and benefit from every day.

Fair Use Week is sponsored by the Association for Research Libraries (ARL).
