Music, Courage, and Remembrance

-

Location: Patricia George Decio Theatre, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

Music, Courage and Remembrance is an inter-artistic event of dance, art, and singing celebrating the music of Pulitzer Prize winner Shulamit Ran, former resident composer of the Chicago Symphony and the Lyric Opera.

In this co-production of Kosmologia, the Intermedia Vocal Project, and NON:op Open Opera, dancer and choreographer Ayako Kato (praised as “best of dance” by the Chicago Tribune) joins forces with installation artist Gwendolyn Terry and soundscape designer and composer Christopher Preissing to develop an immersive experience around Shulamit Ran’s haunting music.

The performance is part of Notre Dame’s exploration of the topic “The Jewish Artist in the Western World.” The “Elijah” videos of Notre Dame alumnas Allison Evans and Sarah Martin will be featured in this performance. Notre Dame postdoctoral fellow Daniel Stein participates as violin soloist, and Notre Dame Professor Carmen-Helena Téllez performs as artistic director and conductor.

This is a free but ticketed event. For more information, please visit performingarts@nd.edu.
