Wham! Bam! Poetry Slam!

-

Location: Snite Museum of Art

The Snite Museum of Art, the Creative Writing Program, the Department of English, and Spoken Word ND have joined forces to host the third annual WHAM! BAM! POETRY SLAM! as part of the regular 3rd Thursdays @ the Snite series.

A reception will accompany the event between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m., and the slam will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Aspiring slam poets are invited to register with three original poems. The poetry slam will consist of three separate rounds. Each round will decrease in competitors until the final four performers are standing in round three, where only one poet will win first prize. Judges will be selected members of the audience. The poems must be original work on any subject and can be in any style. The use of props is strictly prohibited; only the performer’s body may be used to perform the poem.

At the end of the evening, the emcee will announce a winner, and prizes (first prize: $100; second prize: $25; third prize: a selected copy from Action Books) will be awarded.

To participate as a performing poet, please contact Coleen Hoover, Coordinator of the Creative Writing Program, at choover1@nd.edu or 574-631-4799 for registration details.
