The Italian Research Seminar presents: “Heralds, Printers, and Humanists: Techniques of Publication in Early Modern Rome” by Professor Margaret Meserve.

Margaret Meserve, associate professor in the Department of History, specializes in the intellectual and cultural history of the Italian Renaissance, the urban histories of Florence and Rome, social and family history, and the age of European exploration.

In 2006-07, Meserve held NEH and ACLS fellowships as well as a Rome Prize fellowship from the American Academy in Rome, where she began a new project on the circulation of news and political commentary in Italy in the first decades after the arrival of print (ca 1470-1527).
