The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures presents:

Le Chat du rabbin (The Rabbi’s Cat)
Directed by Antoine Delesvaux and Joann Sfar
French with English subtitles
Not Rated (Recommended for ages 13 and up)

Based on co-director Joann Sfar’s popular comic-book series of the same name, The Rabbi’s Cat features a remarkable, hairless cat preparing for his bar mitzvah. Having previously devoured his master’s parrot, the cat now has the power of speech, which he uses to constantly question and probe his faith. Soon the cat and his rabbi set out for Ethiopia, encountering a host of characters of various creeds and ethnicities who give them a richer understanding of their own religious identity.

This film is part of the Tournées Film Festival in celebration of International Education Week.
