Location: Browning Cinema, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures presents:

Après mai (Something in the Air)
Directed by Olivier Assayas
French with English subtitles

Set in the early 1970s, this bracing semi-autobiographical film from Olivier Assayas (Carlos, Summer Hours) resists easy nostalgia, focusing instead on the turbulence of one’s late teens and early twenties. The writer-director’s surrogate is a high-school student named Gilles, born too late to take part in the insurrections of May ’68 but still consumed with revolutionary zeal who eventually finds purpose in painting and cinema.
