Lecture: Violence in Tudor Ireland

-

Location: 424 Flanner Hall

As part of the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies Twentieth Anniversary Public Talks and Lectures Series, Patricia Palmer, senior lecturer at King’s College London, will present “Violence in Tudor Ireland.”

Palmer is currently writing Severed Heads, Grafted Tongues: Ireland and the Writing of Violence. The book explores the writing of atrocity by crossing back and forth between literary severed heads and the very literal beheadings that stake out the landscape of early-modern Ireland. Her talk will feature her interpretations of that treacherous time.
