Conference: "The Research University and the Liberal Arts College. Examination of the Research Ideal and Liberal Education"

Location: Notre Dame Conference Center, McKenna Hall

This international conference will bring together representatives from institutions of higher education of varying size with a focus on the examination of the place of liberal education as it interfaces with the research ideals of the graduate faculty and the University.

The opening events will feature a major address by Bruce A. Kimball, Professor of Educational Policy and Leadership at Ohio State, author of the highly-regarded Orators and Philosophers: A History of Liberal Education, the Inception of Modern Professional Education, and most recently Voices from the Liberal Arts Tradition: A Documentary History.
