The Department of Philosophy presents “Human Reasoning: Logic, Philosophy and Psychology.”

Workshop Sessions:

9:00 a.m. – Joshua Shechter, associate professor of philosophy at Brown University, will present “Small Steps and Giant Leaps in Thought: The Epistemology of Basic Deductive Rules.”

10:45 a.m. – Claes Strannegard, assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science, University of Gothenburg, will present “Theorem Proving and Free Association in the Same Framework.”

2:00 p.m. – Lance Rips, professor of cognitive psychology at Northwestern University, will present “Suppressing Modus Ponens.”

4:45 p.m. – Rafael Núñez, professor of cognitive science at the University of California, San Diego, will present a lecture, title to be announced.
