All are welcome to attend a book talk by Nicholas Miller, associate professor of church history at Andrews University. He will give a brief lecture related to his recent book, The Religious Roots of the First Amendment: Dissenting Protestants and the Separation of Church and State (Oxford University Press, 2012). Miller received his Ph.D. from Notre Dame’s Department of History in 2010.
Donald L. Drakeman, author of Church, State, and Original Intent, will offer a brief comment.
Dinner will be served.
A small number of copies of Miller’s book are available for attendees. Please email email@example.com in advance if you plan to attend and would like a copy set aside.
This event is co-sponsored by the Tocqueville Program for Inquiry into Religion and American Public Life, the Department of History, and the Mellon-ISLA Interdisciplinary Workshop “Religious Freedoms, Modern Contexts.”
