Gallery Talk: "Miserere: A Lenten Meditation"

-

Location: Snite Museum of Art, O'Shaughnessy West Gallery

Gallery talk led by Lawrence S. Cunningham, John A. O’Brien Professor of Theology, Emeritus

Artist Georges Rouault chose the opening line of Psalm 51, Miserere (Have Mercy), for the title of his 1927 monumental print series exploring contemporary life in France. What might the psalm’s request for God’s mercy and Rouault’s imagery of human suffering mean for our own Lenten experience? Join Professor Cunningham in the exhibition Lines Etched with the Weight of Life: Georges Rouault’s Miserere for a consideration of this idea.

This gallery talk is open to the public.
