Govier will offers an account of social trust, emphasizing its significance in contexts of post-conflict reconciliation. Govier’s talk will also highlight Gandhi’s theory of the close relationship between ends and means. Her talk will analyze examples from Somalia, Sierra Leone, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Trudy Govier is professor of philosophy at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada and the author of several books including_ Social Trust and Human Communities_ (1997), Forgiveness and Revenge (2002), Taking Wrongs Seriously (2006) and A Practical Study of Argument (seventh edition, 2010).
