Moderated by Dean John McGreevy, College of Arts and Letters The Center for Social Concerns annually chooses one Catholic social teaching document to provide focus to its programs and seminars; for 2012–13, they have selected Pope John XXIII's encyclical, _Pacem in Terris_. To launch the theme and provide focus for the year, the CSC designed a panel discussion that would introduce _Pacem in Terris_ and its implications for civil discourse today, challenging the campus community to engage in respectful dialogue and shared action on issues about which they care deeply. The CSC seeks to model ways for students and others to apply faith, reason, and respect to conversations with others in order to promote a global citizenship that positively advances the common good.
